Spiked Horchata

This week on #NoFilter with Zack Peter, we made decided to take Califia's new Horchata and mix it with some homemade spicy cinnamon whiskey (get the recipe here). It was so good! I'd recommend adding an extra dash of cinnamon to really amp up the flavor. You're welcome.

Drink of the Week: Horchata On Fire (Dairy-free & under 150 calories)

  • 1 part Califia Farms Classic Cinnamon Horchata
  • 1 part cinnamon whiskey
  • Ice

Combine ingredients in a shaker and pour over ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Mix it up: Eliminate potential additives by infusing your favorite organic whiskey with some cinnamon sticks and dried chili peppers. Get the recipe from PopSugar.

Make it Skinny: Ditch the dark liquor and swap the whiskey for a clear liquor instead. (Like Tru Organic Vanilla Vodka)

Classic Vegan White Russian

I am OBSESSED with the new Califia Cold Brew Coffee and the Hazelnut creamer. I don't do creamer, but when I do, it's this one and it's heavenly. Combine that with vodka? And I just died and went to heaven...

Vegan White Russian
• 1.5 parts vodka (preferably organic)

• 0.5 part Califia Farms Concentrated Cold Brew Coffee (add a little water to lighten it up)

• Splash of Califia Farms Vanilla Almondmilk Coffee Creamer

• Ice
Directions: Combine ingredients in shaker and pour over ice.

Mix it up: Try Pecan Caramel or Hazelnut coffee creamer in place of Vanilla for an added flavor

Make it Skinny: Cut the calories and sugar by swapping the coffee creamer with Califia Farms Unsweetened Vanilla Almondmilk

Why It’s Better: Dairy-free (perfect for those with dairy intolerance) and lower in calories. Plus, by eliminating the traditional coffee liqueur with fresher ingredients, you’re kicking the extra sugar.

Green Jalapeno Margarita

This week's drink has two of my favorite things: jalapenos and margaritas.

Pressed Juicery Green Jalapeno Margarita
Ingredients:
·         1 oz. tequila
·         1 oz. triple sec / OR the juice of one orange wedge and vodka
·         ½ lime (cut into slices)
·         ¼ jalapeno pepper (cut into small slices)
·         5.5 oz. Pressed Juicery “green jalapeno juice” (kale, romaine, spinach, yuzu, apple, cucumber, jalapeno)
·         Ice
·         Salt

Directions:
1         Muddle lime slices and jalapeno slices in the bottom of a 16 oz.  glass
2         Pour triple sec, tequila and Pressed Juicery juice into the glass
3         Fill the glass with ice, then pourinto a cocktail shaker; shake ingredients
4         Wet the rim of the glass, and add salt to the rim
5         Pour drink back into the glass and garnish with a lime wedge and a jalapeno slice

Skinny alternative: Lighten the drink up with some soda water (it'll also help fill you up quicker) and swap the triple sec for a tiny splash of vodka (one of my favorites is the Blue Ice organic) and the juice of one orange slice (a better, mocked up version of the triple sec).

Why It’s Better:

  • Sweetened naturally, with no added sugar
  • Uses only clear liquor (stay away from the dark the stuff!)
  • The jalapenos give you metabolism a nice boost
  • Soda water fills you up, making you fuller quicker and less likely to drink more
