The Skinny Lemonade Cocktail

This week, as you may have heard on #NoFilter... I've gained 8 pounds. EIGHT. Slightly mortified, I am determined to lose it and have entered in a 30 day challenge to bring down my body fat percentage. Since I still enjoy a drink on occasion (and have a new featured drink on #NoFilter each week), I have decided to modify my drinks into "skinny" versions, with less sugar and less calories, but keep all the fun (aka the alcohol).

 

This week's drink is definitely one of my new favorites! A spin on the traditional Master Cleanse cayenne lemonade, I took Pressed Juicery's Lemon Cayenne h2o, mixed it with some Blue Ice vodka and some soda water and tada: this week's Skinny Lemonade! #DrinkBetter

 

The Skinny Lemonade: For the Conscious Drinking Looking to Lose a Couple Pounds

  • 1 part soda water
  • 2 parts Pressed Juicery Lemon Cayenne h2o
  • 1.5 oz Blue Ice Organic Vodka
  • Ice
  • Optional: Pinch of Pure Stevia Leaf Extract

 

Directions: 

1. Pour soda in a glass with ice.

2. Add in Blue Ice and PJ Lemon Cayenne h2o and stir

3. Optional: Add in some pure stevia leaf extract to sweet it a bit (make sure it's pure stevia; some brands will add a little sugar to trick you!)

Garnish with a lemon wedge

 

Why It’s Better:

  • Sweetened naturally, with no added sugar
  • Less than 125 calories per drink
  • Uses only clear liquor (stay away from the dark the stuff!)
  • The lemon and cayenne give your metabolism a nice boost
  • Soda water fills you up, making you fuller quicker and less likely to drink more

 

 

Grapefruit Mint Margarita

This week’s Drink of the Week was crafted by one of my favorite juice spots: Pressed Juicery. I'm there almost every day -- no joke -- which is why I was so excited about this week's drink. Pressed Juicery and tequila? Done.

 

Pressed Juicery Grapefruit Mint Margarita

  • 1 oz tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 1/2 lim (cut into slices)
  • 5.5 oz of Pressed Juicery Citrus 3 (grapefruit, mint)
  • 1 leaf fresh mint
  • Ice
  • Salt

Directions: 

1. Muddle lime slices in the bottom of a 16 oz glass.

2. Pour triple sec, tequila and juice into the glass.

3. Fill the glass with ice, then pour into a cocktail shaker; shake ingredients.

4. Wet the rim of the glass, and add salt to the rim.

5. Pour drink back into the glass and garnish with lime wedge and fresh mint.

Make it Skinny: Use soda water as the main base with tequila and lots of fresh lime juice. Add a splash of Citrus 3 juice and lightly top your margarita with just a splash of triple sec.

  • Lower in sugar and in calories
  • Uses only clear liquor (stay away from the dark the stuff!)
  • Made fresh and all natural using fresh, organic lime and mint
  • Light and refreshing

The Cool Collins Cocktail (Sugar-free)

So this week, we kicked off the first episode of #NoFilter with Zack Peter. My co-host for the week, Candace McDonald, and I sipped on our refreshing Cool Collins cocktails. We dug it and I know you will too! Low-cal, all organic, refreshing, no sugar... I mean, it doesn't get better than that.

 

The Cool Collins (Sugar-free) 

  • 1 part Square One Organic Vodka Cucumber 
  • 2 parts Soda Water
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Fresh Mint

In a cocktail shaker, add cucumber vodka, ice, lemon, and mint leaves. Shake, shake, shake... Grab a glass, fill with two parts soda water on the rocks. Pour vodka out of the shaker and into your glass. Garnish with fresh mint, sit back, turn up the latest episode of #NoFilter with Zack Peter and enjoy. #DrinkBetter
